Melissa Garrido
Melissa Garrido, PhD, is a health economist and Associate Director of the Partnered Evidence-Based Policy Resource Center (PEPReC) at the Boston VA Healthcare System. She is also a Research Associate Professor in the Department of Health Law, Policy and Management at the Boston University School of Public Health. Dr. Garrido has expertise in causal inference, econometric methods for analyses of large observational datasets, and geriatrics and palliative care. Additional research interests include access to and quality of substance use disorder treatment and mental health care for individuals with serious physical illnesses. She is a Senior Associate Editor at Health Services Research and is a member of the Medicare Evidence Development & Coverage Advisory Committee (MEDCAC) and the Federal Interagency Council on Evaluation Policy. Dr. Garrido received her PhD in Health Services Research, Policy, and Administration from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities and completed an NIMH postdoctoral traineeship in mental health services research at the Institute for Health, Health Care Policy, and Aging Research at Rutgers University.
